WORDS FROM THE INTERNATIONAL PRESIDING PRELATE

Travailing In Prayer
July 18, 2007By Bishop H.A. Tindal, Sr.

Our translation of the word travail has many meanings in the Scripture, but the underlying idea seems to be one that requires much labor and quite frankly pain.Isaiah 23:4 " Be thou ashamed, O Zion: for the sea hath spoken, even the strength of the sea, saying,I travail not, nor brought forth children, neither do I norish up young men, nor bring up virgins."   Travail from the CHIYL-(kheel) to writh in pain, to bear to bring forth. Jeremial4:31 Travail from CHALAH-(khaw-law) to be rubbed or worn, to be weak, sick, be grieved, intreat, put to pain, pray, make prayer, be sorry, women in travail.

Check out Genesis 38:27, Exodus18:8, Ecclesiastices1:13, Isaiah 53:11.
In the New Testament see Galatians 4:19 "..of whom I travail..."   ODINO-(odee-no) experience the pain of parturition, travail in birth 1 Thessalonians 2:9 "for ye remember, brethren, our labor and travail:..." MOCHTHOS-(mokh-thos) toil, sadness, painfulness, travail. There are others references to travail such as Romans8:28, John 16:21 etc. The idea is that we must really get down and cry our to Yahew, the Lord God, until we have the assurance that our prayers are answered. It can mean going without sleep, sometimes all night long. Jesus often prayed throughout the night. Do you really want to be "Just like Him?"
Let me know what you think about travailing in prayer. I have more thoughts and Scriptures on this important but infrequently talked about subject. When we prevail in the heavenlies we realyze victories in the earthlies! Think about this, after the labor comes the birth. After the travail comes forth the Victories!
